Playing Baccarat

Originally the game we know as Baccarat was called Faro, and was the favorite past time for many famous 15th century adventurers. The story goes that in the first games of Baccarat, in the dark Middle Ages, a set of Tarot cards were used to play the game.  The name "Baccarat: comes from the Italian word “baccara”, and literally means "zero".
Baccarat is a great game, which is suitable for novice and professional card players. Let’s take a look at how the game is played, and more importantly, how to win.

The Odds in Baccarat

Fictional characters, like the famous 007, seem to be able to win or lose by choice, in real life, that is not an option. While it is true that odds can be calculated, strategies for Baccarat are limited. There are no safe strategies, when playing Baccarat, but one, which is to draw 9.

The rules for playing Baccarat

Playing Baccarat is really very easy, there are bets placed, and cards dealt. The outcome is controlled by the combined results of the cards that are dealt. To be precise; every player receives two cards from the dealer, and so does the banker. The game's objective is to get as close to 9 as possible.

If you have received so called "naturals", which are an 8 or a 9, the player wins, unless the dealer has the same outcome, then nobody wins. We call this a tie. In case the player receives 6, or 7 as the total outcome, the player is required to stand, and if the outcome is 5 or less, a third card must be drawn by the player. Tens and face cards, have no value in Baccarat. This means, that in case a player receives a ten and a five, the outcome would be five. In case of a three cards situation, the total is the number to the right, on the card. For example: In case the player gets 14, from all three cards combined, then the end score of the player’s hand would be 4.

Rules for the Dealer

In case the dealer has generated 5 or less, he, or she must draw a card, while the player stands, with the hand that was dealt. At this point, the rules can become a little confusing.
Assuming the player has taken a third card, the dealer must act according to the following rules:
In case the dealer draws a total between 0 and 2, the Dealer is obliged to take a third card. If the dealer has the amount of 3, the dealer is only required to draw if the player has a third card that is between 0 and 7, or in case it is a 9. In the event, the dealer has ended up with a 4, the dealer is only required to draw in case the player has a third card between 2 and 7. When the dealer draws 5, the dealer must draw when the third card of the player is between 4 and 7, and when the dealer's total is 6, drawing is only required in case the player has a third card that is a 6 or a 7.

The bets in Baccarat

There are 3 bets in Baccarat. One for the player, one for the banker, and one in case the end result
is a tie.In cases where a bet is placed on the player, and won, equal money is paid out. In cases when a bet is placed on the banker, and won, even money is paid but now with a 4, to 5 percentage to be paid as a commission, and lastly, in cases where the bet was made for a tie, the bet is paid out at 8 to 1, or 9 to 1 rates , depending on the rules that were used. In this case, no commissions are due.
Enjoy the game!
